Emily is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Academic Unit of General Practice where she works with the research team on topics related to medical education and doctor empathy. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Curtin University and works within the Western Australian Group for Evidence Informed Healthcare Practice, Wound Healing and Management Unit, as a research and methodologist. She sits on the Executive Committees of the International Wound Infection Institute and the World Alliance for Wound and Lymphoedema Care, and the editorial boards of the Journal of Tissue Viability and Wound Practice and Research. Emily works with peak international wound care bodies developing and disseminating evidence-based guidelines in wound management, most notably the International Pressure Injury guideline that is used as the standard of pressure injury prevention and treatment in more than 40 countries.  She is also an Honorary Associate at La Trobe University within the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care where she works on aged care research with a focus on dementia management, staff-family relationships and sexuality in older adults.
