Hospital in the Home (HITH)

HITH provides an acute hospital substitution service that allows you to receive care from nurses in your home. HITH may provide access to other various hospital services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, social work, pathology and radiology.

Two HITH programs currently operate in the ACT. One service operates from Canberra Health Services (CHS) and the other from Calvary Public Hospital Bruce (CPHB). Similar HITH services are offered by each program and patients are admitted to the service where their condition is best managed and where appropriate specialty services are offered.

How can I access the HITH service?

You may be referred by a medical officer or nurse involved in your hospital care, your supervising doctor (General Practitioner or Specialist) or primary care provider.
